Although the ADE and B.Ed. (Hons.) programs have been officially adopted by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and are being introduced to all TTIs, the provincial teacher recruitment policies have not yet changed to reflect the new degree qualifications. The recruitment and service rules, therefore, must be amended to enable successful placement of ADE/B.Ed. (Hons.) programs graduates. PRP is providing technical assistance to provinces/regions to help them revise, implement, amend service rules and structures to benefit trained teachers. PRP is also working with them on licensing to identify teachers as qualified professionals, like lawyers, doctors, and accountants. Requirements for each level of licensing will be clarified and/or developed taking into account the 2018 degree requirements, the introduction of reading courses, and the financial and geographic challenges many teachers face in completing their formal education.
